Parents' Association

Welcome to the KEHS Parents’ Association. We are proud to play a central role in the life of this wonderful school, supporting its work and strengthening the close-knit community of girls and their families. We welcome all parents and carers with a daughter at KEHS and hope you will join the PA, meet other parents and get involved in our activities. For many members, lifelong friendships are forged between families as they work together to raise funds which benefit all our daughters

The PA raises money through social events and second-hand uniform sales so that we can fund special items to enrich the school’s facilities: in recent years, we have bought benches for the school grounds and a display cabinet to house trophies in the Sports Centre, while this year, we are purchasing soft seating for a new social space for girls.

Many parents also help our girls by sharing their skills, experience and contacts, for example, through talks and advice on academic studies, careers, internships and networking. The PA Committee administers a Trust Fund, which can provide financial help for pupils in need.

We organise events each term, giving parents and girls the chance to socialise while helping raise valuable funds. We know the first few weeks at a new school can seem daunting and unfamiliar, so each October we hold an informal social evening for the parents of the new Thirds (Year 7s) to meet one another and share their initial experiences of KEHS. We then usually run a family event and a film evening for the girls, both are opportunities to get together in a friendly, relaxed environment.

After the magical evening Carol Service for parents and Old Edwardians at Edgbaston Old Church in mid-December, PA members serve wine, soft drinks and mince pies.

In May this year, the PA staged its inaugural lecture, which is set to become an annual event. Alice Roberts delivered an inspirational talk on ‘The Human Journey’ to a packed hall of girls, parents, staff and friends. Look out for our next lecture in September!

The main PA Committee meets four times each year to discuss events, strategy and funding requests in an informal, supportive atmosphere and all parents are welcome to attend, while smaller sub-groups organise specific events. We recognise everyone has different amounts of time available and varied skills to offer and everyone’s contribution is valuable. The school parent population continually moves on so we always welcome new members. A ‘once only’ payment of £20 appears on your first term invoice and this activates your membership throughout your daughter’s time at KEHS. We hope that you will be happy to support the PA through this contribution.

As parents ourselves, we understand that most families have many commitments but we’d be hugely grateful if you could support us, maybe through attending the main meetings, helping at a particular event, or, if your time is very limited, perhaps donating a raffle prize or attending one of our social events. Do get in touch with any offers of support, new ideas or feedback on: You can access recent minutes here.

We’d love to hear from you.
