On Wednesday 5th February, KEHS played host to an Outreach Debating Workshop for local school children from Little Sutton Primary School, William Murdoch Primary School, Blakesley Hall Primary School, Bordesley Green Primary School and Blue Coat School. This was a highly beneficial experience for all concerned, with the pupils debating whether or not to ban mobile phones in schools. After a general introduction, led by Miss Williams, and a quiz about politics in the UK by Dr Limm, the pupils were grouped into two teams and coached in the art of debating by Shivanii, Cathy, Sofia, Chloe, Tvisha and Charlotte. After thoughtful discussions and plenty of planning, the motion to ban phones was rejected by a margin of 21 to 5.
