On Wednesday 13th November, as part of the ongoing Upper 6th Academic Lecture Series, Russell Robinson, a criminal solicitor, spoke to the whole of the Upper 6th regarding his experience of practising law; for 25 years he was a duty solicitor in a police station. Through his anecdotal lecture, Mr Robinson covered a wide range of topics, from assault, to the effects of alcohol consumption and your rights whilst intoxicated. A particularly interesting aspect of the lecture was his description of assault with a weapon. He explained that any object used, whether it be thrown, hit or kicked, with the intent to harm someone, is a serious crime and can carry severe jail sentences. Mr Robinson’s lecture was full of relevant information and was thoroughly engaging for all students.
