Each year, King Edward’s School and King Edward VI High School for Girls offer a 3-day Summer School programme for up to 100 year 4 children from 20 state primary schools from across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
The aim of the Summer School is to inspire, challenge and entertain around 90 academically able Year 4 children from across the region. It is designed to give them an insight into what life at secondary school is like with sessions including: Geography, Science, Drama, Sport and much more. The activities are run by teachers from KES and KEHS, supported by a team of our Sixth Form students who act as mentors to the children.
The activities are most suited to children who are above national average in reading, writing and mathematics. We would encourage you to select your most able pupils for the Summer School as the level set is very high. The children can, but do not need to be, eligible for the Pupil Premium.
