On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March, 14 KEHS students took part in the Model United Nations conference held at Shrewsbury School. In joint delegations with students from KES, our students represented China, Saudi Arabia, Norway, Togo, Iraq, and Brazil. There were many issues to be debated, ranging from the plight of Yemeni refugees through to the threat of fake news. The guest speaker this year was Canon Sarah Snyder, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s special envoy for reconciliation. She spoke very movingly about how communities must engage with each other to reach a point of mutual understanding in order to prevent destructive conflict. The implication behind her well expressed thoughts was that fear of others is often perpetuated by a lack of knowledge. A big thank you goes to Kiran for leading our MUN teams this year. As ever our students performed superbly with Kiran and Safaa being commended for their delegate skills. Our China delegation was also commended. Well done to all our students for an excellent display of debating skills!
