On 2nd and 3rd May, 27 KEHS and KES students performed in the Middle School Production of ‘Blue Stockings’ an interesting and thought provoking play which raises the question of women’s rights to education and the historical need for women to choose love or knowledge. In a world where some women and girls still do not have the right to an education the play felt more relevant than ever. Following the lives of four young women at Girton College in Cambridge in 1896, the play explores the year when women first campaigned for their right to graduate; they finally won that vote 40 years later in 1948. Girton College was a very political College at the time and has also housed many of KEHS alumni and staff, with Mrs Clark and Mr Duncombe being ex – Girtonians!

The play was a huge success with many staff and students commenting on the talent of the Upper Fourth and Lower Fifth involved, they were indeed wonderful and did themselves proud both as actors and in the way they conducted themselves throughout the rehearsal week! We are extremely proud of all their hard work and would like to thank all the students involved in the production as well as those who helped backstage.
