There were many smiling faces this morning as Upper Fifth students collected their GCSE results. They have every reason to celebrate, given their phenomenal results with 92% grades at 9-7 (A*/A equivalent) a particularly impressive outcome in the year when reformed GCSEs and numerical grades were introduced for virtually all subjects.

Remarkably, over 1 in 5 results was awarded a top grade ( i.e. Grade 9 or A*), 34 students out of 74 achieved at least eight top grades and 15 girls achieved top grades across the board. Results in the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) were outstanding with 96% of the Mathematics examinations awarded Grades 9-7, and 43 students out of 74 achieving the elusive Grade 9, while in the challenging Additional Mathematics examination, 77% were awarded the top grade. Students also excelled in creative subjects with 100% of the Art, Drama and Music exams receiving 9-7 grades.

We are really proud of all the pupils who have worked so hard to achieve such excellent results in a year of unprecedented change. These results are a tribute to their strong work ethic, determination and tenacity in the face of brand new specifications.

An exploration of Ancient Greece

From the very first day to the last, we found ourselves entirely submerged in both modern and ancient Greek culture, from participating in a couple of chaotic dances to being taught (and quizzed) on different objects we hunted for in the museums.

The great Easter Debate: a sweet, chaotic showdown

If you were expecting a serious, well-structured debate at this year’s Easter debate, you were in for a surprise. What unfolded was less of a formal argument and more of a theatrical masterpiece – complete with flying chocolate, wild accusations and a speaker who somehow turned it into a human rights campaign for sugar.

Culture Week

Culture Week wasn’t just a week, it was a reflection of who we are as a school. It was a reminder that diversity isn’t just something we talk about at KEHS. It’s something we embrace.
