On Sunday 5 February, our under-14 and under-18 netball teams travelled to Phoenix Collegiate to take part in the Regional Finals. Both teams played extremely well against some tough competition, with the under-18s only narrowly missing out on a place in the semi-finals.

We are delighted to share that Lily, one of our Lower Sixth Sport Scholars, will be making her professional debut for Severn Stars in the Netball Super League Season Opener in Nottingham this weekend. Lily, who started playing netball when she was 8 years old, has already had a fantastic journey within the sport, having been selected for the England Roses Academy and winning a gold medal for England in the U17 Europe Netball competition in 2022. We wish you all the best, Lily!

Another of our Sport Scholars, Isabelle (Lower Sixth), undertook some golf tuition on Wednesday afternoon as part of her enrolment on England Golf’s Diploma in Sporting Excellence Programme (DISE). The DISE is a performance programme that provides a structured training and development route for talented young athletes aged 16-19. Well done, Izzy!

Lower School students Laura and Freya are to be congratulated on their fantastic performance at the recent Warwickshire County Swimming Championships. Laura, from the Lower Fourth, won two golds in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke and a silver medal in the 200m. Meanwhile, Freya in the Thirds was awarded the silver medal in the 100m freestyle. Very well done to you both for these fantastic achievements.

Congratulations are also in order for Meher in the Lower Fifth, who has been selected to play for the Warwickshire Badminton U18 county squad – one of the most competitive counties in the country. Meher won the Aston star academy U18 Girl’s singles and doubles championship and is due to compete at Badminton England tournaments in Oxford and Northamptonshire later this term. We wish you all the best in these competitions, Meher!

Finally, we would like to share the fantastic news that Lina in the Lower Sixth has been selected for the England Kumite Karate Squad 2023. Lina, who was one of 40 awarded a spot out of the 250 who trialled, will now start preparing for the UK grand slam next week and three international tournaments at the end of the year. We wish Lina all the best in this exciting endeavour!

German exchange trip to Hamburg

When we were not out on trips, our pupils were attending lessons with their exchange partners in our partner school, the Gymnasium Oldenfelde in Hamburg-Rahlstedt. It was fascinating to see the many differences between the English and German school systems.

An exploration of Ancient Greece

From the very first day to the last, we found ourselves entirely submerged in both modern and ancient Greek culture, from participating in a couple of chaotic dances to being taught (and quizzed) on different objects we hunted for in the museums.

The great Easter Debate: a sweet, chaotic showdown

If you were expecting a serious, well-structured debate at this year’s Easter debate, you were in for a surprise. What unfolded was less of a formal argument and more of a theatrical masterpiece – complete with flying chocolate, wild accusations and a speaker who somehow turned it into a human rights campaign for sugar.
