On Thursday 31st October, BBC Question Time was held in the Ruddock Performing Arts Centre. As Sixth Formers interested in Politics or Broadcasting, we had the opportunity to attend the afternoon rehearsal. Whilst there, we were able to talk to the programme’s host Fiona Bruce, and saw how the sound and camera teams prepared for such a high profile event. The director Rob Hopkin, also gave us a tour of the control room, where we learnt about the meticulous fact-checking that goes into every edition of the programme and how the members of the crew work together to broadcast a seamless production. It really helped us to appreciate the work that goes on behind the scenes to make sure that the public has the opportunity to scrutinise our politicians and public figures, especially with an election looming. It was a unique experience and we would like to thank Mrs Whitehead for providing us with this opportunity as well as the BBC Question Time team for being so accommodating on the day.

King Edward VI High School for Girls, Birmingham (KEHS) has been named West Midlands Independent Secondary School of the Year for Academic Excellence for the fifth year in a row and is once again the highest-ranking independent school outside London and the South East, with a national ranking of 11th.
