Aliyah, was asked to write and read out her poem at the Holocaust Memorial Service at the Council House on Sunday 26th January, as part of her role as Birmingham’s Young Poet Laureate. The theme of this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day was “Standing Together” and, with speakers such as Mindu Hornick MBE, a survivor of the Holocaust, as well as musical performances, it was both a sombre and moving event.
