On Friday 21st September, the second set of careers talks was held for the Upper Fifth and girls were able to select from a choice of three speakers. Heidi Kubik QC talked to girls about her role as a Circuit Judge at Birmingham Crown Court and the roles of a solicitor and barrister. Crime specialist Heidi is also a KEHS parent and we were thankful to her for giving her time so generously. Jyoti Sehdev (OE 2011) is a Civil Engineer with Costain and spoke about her work on the redevelopment of London Bridge Station, a variety of design projects and her current work on High Speed 2. As a passionate STEM ambassador, Jyoti is an inspiration for the next generation of female engineers. Fiona Atay (OE 1979) was able to give girls a real insight into a teaching career and spoke with equal tenderness and honesty about the satisfaction and demands of the profession.

Thanks go to all our visiting speakers for taking the time to enlighten our Upper Fifth about a range of career paths.

If you were expecting a serious, well-structured debate at this year’s Easter debate, you were in for a surprise. Culture Week

Culture Week wasn’t just a week, it was a reflection of who we are as a school. It was a reminder that diversity isn’t just something we talk about at KEHS. It’s something we embrace.
