Despite the unusual circumstances this year, A Level grades are once again strong: 93% grades scored A*-B; 54% students achieved 3 Grade A grades or better, and 48% achieved all A*/A grades. Eleven students out of a year group of 71 have gained places at Oxford and Cambridge, and a host of other students have met their conditional offers to study at top Russell Group universities.
Principal Ann Clark said, “I am proud of students and staff who have shown great fortitude over the last few months after the sudden and unexpected cancellation of public examinations and the lack of clarity about the award of grades. Students had worked conscientiously over 19 months of their courses only to be informed at short notice that they would not have the chance to prove themselves in the Examination Hall. Whilst the pressure of the examination season was removed, many will feel cheated of the opportunity to shine and demonstrate the impact of their hard work. Notwithstanding this, they are ready to move on to Higher Education and any university will be very lucky to have them.”
Jana will be going to Oxford University to read French and Spanish. This year, she took on the role of ‘Dance President’ working with our younger pupils as they prepared for the school’s annual Dance Production. Jana also helped with the organisation of our ‘Salsa Evening’ raising money for LAFF.
Scarlett will be going to Durham University to read English Literature. During her time in the Sixth Form, Scarlett set up a very popular British Sign Language Club which, during lockdown, proved to be the highlight of the week for so many staff and students.
Charlotte, who has been offered a Foundation Year at RADA and Oxford Drama School, mesmerised audiences when she took on one of the leading roles in this year’s Senior Production of Chicago.
Jaya will be going to Nottingham University to read Medicine, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jaya volunteered at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, acting as part of the Workforce and Redeployment Team.
Rhea will be going to Oxford University to read Medicine. During the lockdown, she published her first book-an informative BMAT worked solutions publication detailing answers from the 2011-2019 papers.
