On Friday 14th September, 15 girls in the Lower and Upper Fifth attended Girls Go Gold, an annual sports conference organised by the GSA. It is aimed at girls who are passionate about sport and who may want to pursue a career in the field of sport, not just as an athlete but also in medicine, physiotherapy, psychology and journalism.

Our girls had the opportunity to attend sessions delivered by inspirational speakers including founder of the motivational charity ‘I Can & I Am’ James Shone, successful British Badminton player Gail Emms, as well as award winning broadcaster Clare Balding. The day also included an athletes’ fair and a functional movement screening which aimed to help girls improve common dysfunctional patterns of movement in order to improve performance and avoid injuries. The girls were also involved in practical sporting workshops in Netball and Hockey with current and ex international athletes.
