This week, Shivanii and Lucy represented KEHS at the Midlands round of the Historical Association Great Debate, hosted by KE Camp Hill Boys. The question was ‘What was the greatest failure of the Age of Revolutions?’ Whilst Lucy delivered a strong and convincing speech arguing that the British Government’s failure to reform the political system was the greatest failure at this time, Shivanii wowed the judges with her argument that the Industrial Revolution was in fact the greatest failure because the negative repercussions continue to be felt today. Following extensive deliberations and a close decision, Shivanii was announced the winner and will progress to the national final at the Houses of Parliament. A huge well done to both girls for delivering fantastic and well researched speeches on a challenging topic.
