Upper Sixth student Namrata recently had her article titled ‘Resilience amongst
GCSE/A-Level/IB students in the midst of the COVID pandemic’ published in the Medic
Mentor Magazine.

“The COVID pandemic has had an enormous impact on all of us in diverse ways, from
impacting our education to having an impact on our mental health. I wanted to explore any
positives, if there are any, that we could take from lockdown, and this is what inspired me
to investigate the resilience that students in their GCSE, A-Level and IB years demonstrated.
I chose these year groups as their education were impacted profoundly with their public
exams approaching. I conducted a questionnaire survey, asking students from years 10 to
13 in both KEHS and KES (they do IB instead of A-Levels) about numerous factors including
coping strategies, stress levels during lockdown, their feelings about remote learning, the
impact of lockdown on exam preparation and their views on academic performance with
remote learning. On review of the responses, a sizeable proportion preferred a combination
of face to face and remote learning, as this helped their performance and understanding of
the subject content. From this I also investigated where online platforms are also used, and
one example was in medical schools, where lectures are hosted online and even some
practical classes were held online via simulation models. I then collaborated with editors in
the Medic Mentor Magazine team to create an article analysing the results from the survey
which was published in their autumn edition.”

The great Easter Debate: a sweet, chaotic showdown

If you were expecting a serious, well-structured debate at this year’s Easter debate, you were in for a surprise. What unfolded was less of a formal argument and more of a theatrical masterpiece – complete with flying chocolate, wild accusations and a speaker who somehow turned it into a human rights campaign for sugar.

Culture Week

Culture Week wasn’t just a week, it was a reflection of who we are as a school. It was a reminder that diversity isn’t just something we talk about at KEHS. It’s something we embrace.

Neurodiversity Celebration Week

KEHS marked Neurodiversity Celebration Week with inspiring talks, pupil-led discussions, and a vibrant fair, promoting awareness, inclusion, and support for all.
