On Thursday 12th September, positive psychologist coach, Kim Carr, from the company Worth-it, had the pleasure of meeting Lower Fifth girls and their parents. During the day the girls participated in a workshop. Here they looked at how they could make a good start to their GCSE years through building ‘Psychological Capital’. This would also benefit them in their future life beyond GCSEs. They looked at hope theory, efficacy, resilience, optimism and confidence. Later at the parents’ talk, Kim discussed strategies which could be used to help their daughters, such as active listening, recognising strengths and helping them to become more resilient through finding their own answers.
