On Wednesday 4th December, the Lower Fourth marked the end of their first unit of work in PDM by taking part in the Democracy and Decision Making Final. Over the past eight weeks, the girls have been working on ideas about how they can improve the School whilst working within a budget and as a team. The two best presentations from each form were presented in the Final, in front of their whole year group and a panel of judges made up of Mrs Clark, Mrs Butterworth, Mrs Hargraves and Deirdre Alden, the Local Councillor for Edbgaston. Ideas ranged from a Peace Garden, new bag storage, a visualiser in Food Studies and board games in the social areas. The judges were impressed with the ideas and the well-delivered and imaginative presentations. The winner will be announced in the Lower School Final Assembly, so stay tuned!
Netflix movie: 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion
Exciting news! On Thursday 12 December, the BBC One Show featured the incredible true story behind the upcoming Netflix movie The Six Triple Eight, starring Kerry Washington and Oprah Winfrey. This was a remarkable opportunity to learn about the story of the 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion – an all-female, predominantly African-American unit stationed at King Edward’s School during the Second World War.
