Last year, Sinali Gunarathne worked on a project to benefit schools in Sri Lanka. After a research trip to the country as a part of her EPQ, Sinali was struck by how few resources the students were able to access and saw an opportunity to become involved in the ‘Kid’s Read’ project with her aunt. She noticed how many books she had on her own bookshelf that would not be read again and decided to take action. Sinali campaigned in school for donations of books which could be given to students in Sri Lanka. Sinali and Olivia Kolasinski visited Sri Lanka and distributed over 700 books to students making a huge difference to their education. After the success of last year’s campaign, Sinali and Olivia are organising another major book donation scheme for next year. They are hoping to raise £500 and you can support them and follow their progress here.
