A season of discovery: Christmas adventures

Over the Christmas break, KEHS pupils embarked on three incredible trips, each offering unique learning and cultural experiences. From WW1 battlefields of Belgium and France, exploring the coastal city of Boulogne to an unforgettable trip to Berlin.

Belgium and France

A poignant journey to the WW1 battlefields of Belgium and France. Highlights included visits to the Menin Gate for the Last Post ceremony, the In Flanders Fields Museum, and the solemn Tyne Cot and Langemark cemeteries. Guided by a history expert, the group explored sites like Essex Farm Cemetery and Sanctuary Wood, delving into the stories of courage and sacrifice that shaped our world.

Boulogne

A group of GCSE French pupils explored the beautiful coastal city of Boulogne. From improving their language skills to experiencing French culture first-hand, it was an unforgettable trip.

Berlin

KEHS and KES Sixth Form pupils travelled to Berlin, delving into the city’s history and culture. Highlights included visits to the Holocaust Memorial, the Reichstag glass dome, and the East Side Gallery, as well as a moving tour of Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Pupils also experienced the festive magic of Berlin’s renowned Christmas markets, from Alexanderplatz to Charlottenburg Palace. With insights into the Berlin Wall, Stasi prison, and the “Palace of Tears”.
