European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad

​During the Easter holidays, Naomi travelled to Ukraine to represent the UK National team in the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad. The competition began in Cambridge with a mathematical training camp, before the UK team arrived in Kyiv in Ukraine to compete against other national teams.

During the Easter holidays, Naomi travelled to Ukraine to represent the UK National team in the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad. The competition began in Cambridge with a mathematical training camp, before the UK team arrived in Kyiv in Ukraine to compete against other national teams. After a grand opening ceremony, Naomi was able to go sightseeing around the region and participate in traditional Ukrainian dancing with new friends from competing teams. Naomi performed very well throughout the Olympiad and was awarded a Silver medal.

This was a remarkable opportunity to learn about the story of the 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion – an all-female, predominantly African-American unit stationed at King Edward’s School during the Second World War.
