On 30th April, our Young Enterprise company, Verglace, entered the digital presentation round of the Young Enterprise Greater Birmingham finals to present an overview of their progress since starting up the company. The Young Enterprise scheme for girls in the Sixth Form involves
small groups setting up and running their own real companies. Their products have included eco-friendly hoodies and tote bags that appeal to both girls and staff at KEHS and the wider community, with the aim to raise awareness of environmental issues such as global warming, affecting habitats of animals. They have donated a percentage of their profits to support a WWF polar bear.

With only four minutes to inform judges on their journey, they were able to include numerous aspects varying from the creation of their products, sales to the public and their presence on social media.

The judges were highly impressed with the standard of the pitch and awarded the company ‘Best Customer Service’ which is a fantastic achievement for the company. Congratulations to all the company members, especially their Managing Director, Michelle in the Sixth Form.

On Tuesday 28 April, the Ruddock Performing Arts Centre was the venue for the second Tolkien Lecture since the series resumed following its pause due to the pandemic.
