The second seminar lunch of the new academic year took place on Tuesday 8 October, with three students in the Upper Sixth presenting papers on a range of topics. Scarlett opened the event, speaking with great clarity about female novelists of the 19th Century. The next two papers focused on politics: Laura provided an enlightening discussion of the legacy of Francoist governance in Spanish politics, whilst Nikita’s nuanced paper questioned the democratic nature of the British political system. All three also fielded a range of challenging questions from the audience.
