Spanish Trip to Madrid

During February half term, the Spanish Department embarked upon another adventure, taking nine sixth formers to Madrid for the weekend, accompanied by the enthusiastic Senora Atkins and Senora Soldevilla! Spanish students relished this opportunity to practise their language skills in numerous different situations...

During February half term, the Spanish Department embarked upon another adventure, taking nine sixth formers to Madrid for the weekend, accompanied by the enthusiastic Senora Atkins and Senora Soldevilla! Spanish students relished this opportunity to practise their language skills in numerous different situations, from ordering food and interacting with the locals to translating clues in a rather competitive ‘escape room’ experience. In addition, students were able to immerse themselves in the culture by visiting Madrid’s flea market “el Rastro”, exploring artwork in “Museo del Prado” and experimenting with typical food from the region, such as paella. Overall the trip was a great success and immense fun for everyone. Thank you to the Spanish Department for organising such a culturally enriching visit.

During the Easter holidays, Lower Sixth pupil Lara was selected to speak at TEDxTamworth, where she stepped onto the stage alongside 11 adult speakers to deliver a talk on ‘Why The AI Age Belongs to the Teen Generalist’.
