Roman Soldier experience visits KEHS and fun dress up

Gaius spoke to the girls about life as a soldier in the Roman army, showed them replica equipment, armour and weapons and entertained them with terrible tales of Roman battle tactics...

On Wednesday 22nd January, the Thirds enjoyed a visit from a Roman soldier, Gaius Flavius Longinus, Optio. X Coh. Legio XXvv Deva. Gaius spoke to the girls about life as a soldier in the Roman army, showed them replica equipment, armour and weapons and entertained them with terrible tales of Roman battle tactics. The girls had a great time practising drills, during which they learnt to march in Roman military step, threw ‘javelins’ and formed a defensive formation using shields.
