Our first KEHS Music Makers Chamber Music Tour took place on Monday 16th December when Samantha, Jennifer, Naina, Beatrice and Shivanii took to the road to perform a selection of well known Christmas music to Primary School children aged between 3 and 7. The tour included visits to Raddlebarn Primary, Coppice Primary in Wythall, St Martin de Porres Catholic Primary and Kings Norton Primary, enabling over 400 children to experience live music in their own school hall. The children delighted in joining in with Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, and sat totally entranced to listen to the story of The Snowman, expertly narrated by Shivanii and accompanied by the string quartet. In addition to the Primary School visits, the quartet also performed in the Atrium at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, helping to raise vital funds towards the hospital’s Christmas Campaign. Changemakers Live
On Friday 24 April, I was proud to host the school’s very first Changemakers Live event in the PAC: a joint student-led school conference built around intellectual curiosity and communicating ideas, inspired by the concept of TED talks.
