In the early hours of Friday 15th February, a group of A-level History students travelled to Paris for the weekend in order to consolidate their studies of the French Revolution. The itinerary was jam-packed; highlights included a visit to the Palace of Versailles, an evening spent by the Arc de Triomphe and a tour of important revolutionary sites by a pair of very enthusiastic Parisian guides! The students also saw the resting places of many key figures of the Revolution, including Rousseau, Napoleon, as well as and the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution in 1793. The trip was not only a wonderful opportunity for students to further their understanding of the events studied in history lessons, but also to appreciate the iconic sites of Paris, with visits to the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, as well as an ascent of the Montparnasse Tower. Everyone had a fantastic time, and the students would like thank Mr Haines, Mrs Hargraves and Claire for making such a great trip possible.
Future ready: Year 12 explore university pathways
It was a privilege for our year 12 pupils attend a jam-packed morning of higher education sessions given by leading academics and admissions staff from Birmingham, Aston, Warwick, Leicester and Nottingham Universities.
