During October half term, Sixth Form Spanish students took a trip to London to see the Spanish play Yerma by Federico Garcia Lorca. Despite the initial shock of stepping through the doors of the theatre into what seemed like another country, the play was a challenging approach to consolidating the students’ knowledge on the subject, but also enhancing their cultural awareness and developing their vocabulary. Yerma told the emotional story of a woman desperate to have a child, and her unfortunate inability to do so, and included spanish songs, dancing and incredible acting, highlighted by the main character’s real tears which did not cease even when the play was over and the applause had begun. Overall, the trip was a thoroughly enriching and enjoyable experience!
Future ready: Year 12 explore university pathways
It was a privilege for our year 12 pupils attend a jam-packed morning of higher education sessions given by leading academics and admissions staff from Birmingham, Aston, Warwick, Leicester and Nottingham Universities.
