On Friday 11th October, we were visited by Dr Krzysztof Kredens, Co-Director of the Centre for Forensic Linguistics. Students learnt about this fascinating field, which is the application of linguistic knowledge, methods and insights to the context of law and judicial procedure. Dr Kredens, who is also Director of the Forensic Linguistics MA programme at Aston University, spoke about the role that language can play in serving justice and how the study of words can help people to find the truth when a crime has been committed.
