On Tuesday 1st October, Upper 5th attend their final set of timetabled careers talks. Dr Sara Jabbari, from the School of Mathematics at the University of Birmingham, talked to girls about her career in academia teaching undergraduate students and carrying out research into the applications of mathematics in medicine. Steve Gedye and Adam Hope, from international consultancy and construction business Mace, spoke about their differing roles in Project Management and Costing and the opportunities available in the industry. Alison Harvie, a leading communications professional in the third sector, talked students through her career from A Levels to reading Politics at university, as well as working for think tanks and charities. She shared some top tips around networking and making oneself indispensable in the workplace.
