Over the Summer, Jiya and Shahnoor worked together to produce an article for Mentor Magazine which looked at the stigma surrounding breast cancer screening. In particular, they focused on the overall inequalities in breast cancer screening and the low rate of screening uptake by South Asian women, in spite of the significantly higher cancer mortality rates in ethnic minority communities. Sikh Society Hosts Spectacular Langar Celebration for Chet and the Sikh New Year
This Langar wasn’t just about food — it was a celebration of the Sikh values of seva (selfless service), equality, and community spirit. Pupils who had never attended a Langar before were able to experience a tradition that is as much about giving and gratitude as it is about sharing a meal.
