On Friday 17th January, Clara Harrison (OE 2019) returned to school to talk to pupils about her studies at St Andrews. Clara is in the first year of an English degree and spoke about the variety of texts she has studied so far, as well as tips for those looking to apply for English. Hint: read! She also talked about university life and the support on offer, including the serendipity of being buddied up with an older student mentor-another Old Ed! Clara commented on the beautiful scenery and strong sense of community at St Andrews, and how it is so important for those making choices about their next step to think about a place of study that suits them as an individual. The lure of the beaches helped in her decision making process! As well as Literature, Clara has also been studying modules in Philosophy and Classics. She mentioned how her A levels at KEHS helped to prepare her for undergraduate work, particularly referencing her practice in RS essays. A student ambassador, Clara has thrown herself into university life. In her first semester alone she has performed in a Town and Gown orchestra, become involved in student radio, and directed a production… a KEHS girl through and through! A big thank you to Clara for coming back to share her experiences and advice. We hope to see you again soon.
