On Wednesday 15th January, Dr Olga Khrushcheva from Manchester Metropolitan University visited KEHS to deliver a thoroughly fascinating presentation on Russian identity. She explained how Russians went from having a strong, proud identity as subjects of the Tsar during the Russian Empire, to becoming law abiding comrades in the USSR. She also talked about citizenship in the Russian Federation. The issue of the rise of Russian nationalism was also touched upon, reminding us of the importance of education and diversity in having a healthy national identity. Many thanks to Mrs Norman for organising the talk and to Dr Khrushcheva for sharing her expertise and knowledge.
