This week girls have had the chance to explore different books which have been banned at some point since being published. Over 11,300 books have been challenged, and many of these are for surprising reasons. Popular books including The Harry Potter Series by J K Rowling, by Lewis Carrol, and by George Orwell have all been banned for various reasons. This annual event, which was launched in 1982, celebrates individuals’ freedom to read, and encourages girls to explore some of the exciting and perhaps controversial books that the Library has to offer.

Lara delivers fascinating talk at TEDxTamworth
During the Easter holidays, Lower Sixth pupil Lara was selected to speak at TEDxTamworth, where she stepped onto the stage alongside 11 adult speakers to deliver a talk on ‘Why The AI Age Belongs to the Teen Generalist’.
