On Friday 16th November, KEHS presented the annual lunchtime recital at the Barber Concert Hall in the Barber Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Birmingham. The recital began with a powerful performance by Renee, Daniel, Enoch and Lauren who played the opening movement (Allegro molto moderato) of Fauré’s Piano Quartet in C minor, op.15. Rosy then wowed the audience with her performances of Mozart’s “È amore un ladroncello” from Così fan Tutte, Donizetti’s “La Conocchia”, Bellini’s “Il fervido desiderio” and Frank Bridge’s “Go Not, Happy Day”. Jessica, Jiaqi, Junias, Mark and Naomi concluded the recital, creating a scintillating atmosphere with their interpretation of the Allegro from Piano Quintet op. 1 no.1 by Dohnányi. A huge congratulations and thanks to all students from both schools who gave such professional and inspiring performances

On Tuesday 28 April, the Ruddock Performing Arts Centre was the venue for the second Tolkien Lecture since the series resumed following its pause due to the pandemic. It was a pleasure to continue this much anticipated programme of talks, named in honour of one of the most distinguished alumni of King Edward’s School, J. R. R. Tolkien.
