On Wednesday 19th June, the Thirds set off on an exciting trip to the National Space Centre. The day started off with an opportunity to explore the many items on display. This provided us with numerous interesting facts as well as the chance to analyse them and participate in some of the interactive games. Students were also able to watch ‘Astronauts’, a planetarium show which provided a very realistic, and at some points, terrifying experience. The highlight of the day occurred after lunch when students were given a once in a lifetime opportunity; they were able to participate in an exhilarating ‘Mission to Mars’. Each girl was given a different role on board, including medical technician, navigator and life support scientist. One of the main mission objectives was to land the simulator spacecraft on Mars. It was an incredible and inspiring experience and students enjoyed the chance to experience the only simulator in the UK! Thankfully everybody also landed safely on Mars!
